First online course: Kids create their own video game with UPENDO Labs

On Sunday, March 22, 2026, UPENDO Labs hosted its first online workshop dedicated to video game programming for children.

During this interactive session, participants learned the basics of programming by creating an obstacle course game. The goal was to learn how to control a character, avoid moving objects, and set up a scoring system.

Guided step by step, the children used the mBlock platform to explore the fundamental concepts of programming:

• event handling
• keyboard movement
• collision detection
• score creation

The training took place in a participatory format where the children replicated the presented steps in real time.

🎯 By the end of this first session, the game’s foundations had been laid.

To enable the children to complete the project and finalize their game, a second session will be organized soon.

Beyond the technical aspects, this training helped develop:

• logical thinking
• independence
• concentration
• the ability to follow instructions
